The Instituto Atlântica aims to work across the entire Atlantic Forest territory, connecting science, territory and climate justice to support biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and social transformation.

Our work starts from the territories and their local realities. While our area of action encompasses the Atlantic Forest as a whole, we currently have a stronger presence and network of partnerships in the Far South and Southern Bahia and in the Salvador Metropolitan Region, where we develop and coordinate projects with communities, research institutions, civil society organizations, public authorities and other local actors.

CURRENT AREAS OF ACTION

Porto Seguro and surrounding region
One of the Institute's main areas of action, with initiatives related to biodiversity conservation, climate change, education, science, bioeconomy and community empowerment. Our activities extend across different parts of the municipality, including Arraial d'Ajuda, Trancoso, Caraíva and Vale Verde, as well as partnerships with local communities and institutions.

Eunápolis and Santa Cruz Cabrália
Strategic territories for partnerships involving Atlantic Forest conservation, agriculture, biodiversity, environmental education and territorial development.

Ilhéus, Itabuna and surrounding region
An area of engagement in Southern Bahia, connecting science, conservation, education and initiatives focused on sociobiodiversity and climate change.

Salvador Metropolitan Region
An expanding area of action, with partnerships focused particularly on education, science, climate justice, environmental conservation and project development in urban and peri-urban contexts.
